Friday Fun Gadget - The MP3 Guitar

Friday, August 31st, 2007

mp3guitarl.jpg

Its been a couple weeks since I found a gadget fun enough to put up for a Friday. This gadget qualifies nicely though. IT was featured on the Today show - and gets rave reviews from every buyer.

Full sized guitar - with 4 buttons on the fretboard to make playing a cinch for even a first timer. You can use it like a regular guitar - OR - hook it up to your mp3 / music player and play to your tunes! You can also have it play background rhythms so you can concentrate on the solo parts.

The pitch and tempo are adjustable for tuning to just about any song.

This is a great way to introduce a child to guitar - or heck just give the thing for the pure joy of playing. I gotta admit - even though my kid and I can play basic acoustic guitar - I’m thinking of getting this purely for its fun value.

Well, that and the excellent price - How could you go wrong for $27.96? Grab one at Discovery before they’re gone!

Doctor Who Action Figure with R/C K9

Monday, August 13th, 2007

This is for us goofy Doctor Who fans that aren’t happy just owning a sonic screwdriver :-)

dr_who_figure.jpg

You get a 5″ Doctor Who (the 10th Doctor) and a 2.5″ K9. Both figs are cool enough alone, but the K9 isn’t your normal action figure - it actually has action. It’s remote control!! AND, there’s a button on the remote which will cycle through several K9 phrases and sound effects. “Affirmative, Master” and “Bleep bloop bleep.” You know, all your favorite K9 sayings.

Friday Fun Gadget - Hydrodynamic Building Set

Friday, June 1st, 2007

hydrodynamic_set.jpg
A full on geeky water playground - I’d even take a few hours of the weekend to goof with this thing. The girders connect,to build the various tanks. Your entire model gets built up from the bottom of the carrying case, which acts as the water reservoir and also has a special footing to be the structure’s foundation. Level by level, you build your support frame and add your tanks. Then connect all the tubes, add in the valves, and turn on the electric pump. 300 Pieces!

Whats more fun that water and electricity together eh?

Friday fun - RC Battle Tanks

Friday, May 11th, 2007

rctanks.jpg

OK, these are almost too cool to even think of giving to the kid - first they are remote controlled tanks which come in all flavors, American, UK, and German.

Eh you say - no big deal. - Well… firstly the basic features - led front and rear lights - you can control angle and rotation of cannon - cannon firing sound - tank recoils while firing - 3 forward speeds - real rubber treads.

ok that sounds pretty cool - but theres more, you can use up to 6 in real battle - they shoot infrared beams and when your tank is hit it will light up and shake. To make the deal even more sweet theres some assembly required so you guys that love putting stuff together get another bonus. And go over to the page and take a look at the detail on these things. Holy cow.

You can find ‘em at your local hobby shop - the manufacturer has a dealer locater HERE

R/C Spy Video Car with Night Vision

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

spy_video_car.jpg

This is no ordinary remote controlled car, it has an onboard camera with nightvision that transmits to a heads up display that you wear! - the HUD is black and white so no full color shots … but for sneaky spy missions who needs color? The cars motors are quiet and it rides low to the ground so you can drive under things to get to the perfect camera spot.
The Hud itself plugs into the remote controller - and it looks like the output is an RCA type connector - meaning you might be able to port the output to TV or PC for viewing/recording.

Firefly Mini R/C Helicopter

Monday, March 19th, 2007

firefly_copter.jpg

This thing is awesome, the wife bought me one for Christmas. While its not quite as easy as driving a RC car, with a little practice you’ll soon be terrorizing the entire household and scaring the family pets. About the only thing to consider is that its an inside only toy, even a slight breeze will disturb it. Aside from that though, I love this chopper - heck all guys love toys!
