Eco Monitors from Eizo Nanao

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

eizo_270x151

Eizo Nanao is bringing the EcoView Sense to the market. It comes in 20 inch and 23 inch types of monitors, which are evidently eco-friendly. Using motion detectors, the monitor can instantly detect if someone is using the computer. If it finds no movement in 40 seconds, it instantly goes to sleep mode.

So say you step away for a snack or a bathroom break, the screen will turn off. The feature though may be disabled if it gets annoying.

The monitors have the following feature:

20-inch EV2023W

  • 1600 x 900 resolution
  • 178 degree viewing angles
  • 3000:1 contrast ratio

23-inch EV2303W

  • a TN panel of 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 160 degree viewing angles
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio

Brightness for both monitors is 250 cd/m2… it also is featured with a VGA and DVI-D input. The other thing that makes this eco-friendly is that it has an ambient light sensor which adjusts to what the room’s light is. The monitor is designed much thinner and lighter than regular types of monitors. And because it is such, it requires less packaging as well.

dell-studio119

This Studio One 19 Desktop has been released in Japan for some time bow but it is only most recently available for those in the United States and Europe. The desktop promises to be a really sturdy and fun computer to use. Aesthetics are purely top notched as it is made of a combination of aluminum, glass, and fabric.

With its touch capability, the desktop is made more efficient, even little kids can use this without worrying about smudges looking after a clean up.

The keyboard is equipped with a percussion center, for games simulated with playing drums. Other than that, you can still use this like anything else — work, edit photos, do slideshows, created your playlist, browse the internet, chat and more.

This computer sells about $699 and has the basics like

  • Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor
  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • 2 GB of memory
  • a 320 GB SATA hard drive
  • a 9200 Integrated Graphics card
  • 7-in-1 media card reader

This computer is sold as the ultimate family computer that Mothers and kids will enjoy. It’s actually a great gift idea for this coming Mother’s Day don’t you think?

Shuttle - The Desktop That’s Also A Laptop

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Shuttle_X50_3 031909_rg_shuttlenettop_01

The problem with desktop computers is mainly portability and the fact that you have to have too many wires connected to it. The problem with laptops? It doesn’t have the convenience of a desktop in terms of stable use. I mean, try working on this with your laptop on your….well, lap and you’ll see what I mean.

Shuttle seems to have found the solution by combining a desktop and a laptop with this Shuttle X50.

The Shuttle X50 is all-in-one touchscreen nettop featuring the following:

  • 15.6-inch touchscreen
  • dual-core Intel Atom 330 processor
  • thin and light body
  • with a very unique carrying handle that doubles as stand
  • widescreen display
  • thickness of only 1.4″
  • no internal batteries, so it must be plugged to function most times.

This nettop is deal for classroom and office use.

This machine is expected to retail at about $500.

lenovo-pocket-yoga-2

It’s wonderful how small and compact this notebook is! I love the convenience of having to carry a laptop like this. Look, you can even put it in your pants’ pocket!

This newest netbook from Lenovo is called the Pocket Yoga.

The gadget comes with an ultra-wide screen and a display that is so much like the VAIO. It also has a touchscreen feature as you can work this baby with a stylus. You can fold it up or flip it like you would any regular notepad or notebook (the ones made of paper).

The gadget has not been officially announced yet, and there are no technical details as of this time but I can bet you it is already generating a lot of interest.

But Lenovo’s director, Johnson Li, has actually blogged about the concept, here.

Dell’s Studio One 19 PC Touchscreen Desktop

Friday, March 13th, 2009

dell_studio_one_19

Dell is marketing this latest touchscreen desktop as a Kitchen PC. I don’t know how many people actually need one, especially with the wide options of laptops available in the market today. But if you’re one of those who actually prefer a desktop….for the kitchen, at that…then you can probably look into this.

According to John New, Dell’s Marketing Executive, the Studio One 19 PC is for home users who prefer a multi-media machine where one can “watch HD content, play with your photos, surf the internet or do your taxes on a machine that is full featured”.

This desktop is already made available in Japan and should hit US retail stores in the coming weeks.

The Studio One 19 comes with the following features:

  • a choice between Intel’s Celeron, Dual Core Celeron, Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad Core processors.
  • a choice between Nvidia’s GeForce 9200 or 9400 graphics.
  • a choice between a touchscreen and a non-touchscreen model
  • 4GB of memory.
  • 750 GB of hard disk drive
  • six USB ports
  • web cam
  • an option for Blu-ray disc player

The design includes fabric frames with color choices like black, red, pink and blue.

Priced at around $700 to $800.

Are we going to find this pretty little thing at Apple Stores this coming summer? According to a report from Digitimes, parts shipment for Apple’s newest netbook are going to be supplied by Wintek in Taiwain and has a scheduled shipment for third quarter this year.

I’m actually interested about this but I can’t vouch for sure if there’s any truth to this.

Troll Touch For Mac

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

slipcover touch screen

Troll Touch, one of the industry’s touch screen manufacturer has recently announced the released of this new slipcover mean for Apple’s LED display. Made of clear plastic, the cover is hardly noticeable when placed on the screen. But it does offer wonderful ways to alter how the computer now functions. The thin plastic is good for Apple’s 24-inch Mac computers. Called the Cinema Display, it comes with an integration kit to configure to your system, via USB. But those with iMac and MacBook will also enjoy the same, as touch screen kits are also underway.

Only, there is a catch because the slipcover doesn’t come cheap. A standard one costs about $1099 and if you wanna get a fully integrated display, it would cost you about $2199. Worth getting or is it a waste of money?

    51f3ac109a694bc0_La_Cie.xlarge

    Well, aren’t these pretty!

These are flat cables from LaCie and it reminds me of a time when kids used to wear colored laces back in the 80’s. The flat cables are $10 each and you can purchase these here.

    • With the new LaCie Flat Cables designed by item, it’s easy to find the interface you need. Our new range includes seven different interfaces: USB A to B; USB A to Mini B; USB A male to A female; FireWire 400 to FireWire 400; FireWire 400 to FireWire 800; FireWire 800 to FireWire 800; and eSATA to eSATA. Sony Vaio’s 1.41 lb P-Series Lifestyle PCs

    Thursday, January 8th, 2009

    pseries_8 pseries_11

    Photos are from Dvice

Laptops are getting smaller and smaller aren’t they? And they aren’t called simply laptops anymore but rather “lifestyle PC”, like this latest one from Sony Vaio. It is so unbelievable small, it can fit into your jacket pocket.

The laptop is only about 1.41 lb. and runs on Vista operating system. And for its size, this machine is pretty powerful as it can support 3G or wireless systems.

Now, the problem with tiny laptop’s like this is that there isn’t enough room for typing or ones fingers may crunch up. But apparently, the keyboard is big enough, and the 8 inches screen isn’t all that bad for the vision either.

This tiny laptop, from Viao’s P-series may be ordered online. Priced at $900, the gadget will be in stores later and will come in a selection of colors — black, white, green and red.
