If you’ve been reading Gadget Dose for a while you know I have a special love for lights, and this one fits right in. The details on it are really skimpy - heres the description from the site.

In the clouds or underwater…..there are no limits to the powers of imagination. This new lamp projects on walls or ceilings and creates a relaxing, waving effect simulating being under water in a crystal blue sea and looking up into the sunlight.

Perfect for creating a romantic mood, or simply relaxing in bed or any comfortable place.

They do say the device uses AA batteries but not how many - Id figure 3 or 4.

With some mood music (or underwater sounds) this could create a really relaxing atmosphere. Sure- theres no lasers included, but then it wouldn’t be as relaxing then would it?

You can find em HERE for $69.00

Friday Fun Gadget - The Hypnotic Jellyfish Aquarium

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

jellyfish.jpg
I’ve been watching this one for a long time. When it first came out in Japan the price tag not to mention shipping was obscene. Theres a limit to what I’ll spend or link even if the gadget does have cool lights and promises hypnosis.

Hammacher Schlemmer picked this up and is making it available for the mostly reasonable price of $59.95

With three artificial jellyfish that move in the water amid seaweed and coral reefs, while LED backlighting highlights their movements, this aquarium provides mesmerizing ambiance without the maintenance required with typical aquariums. A silent, integrated motor generates gentle currents, causing the jellyfish to rise and fall in the water. You can choose specific light patterns from nine integrated LEDs that provide red, blue, and green highlights within the aquascape. The aquarium can be wall-mounted, set-up on a bookshelf, or displayed on a tabletop.

So there ya go - mostly a soothing eye candy sort of deal - might just lull you to sleep or be that perfect romantic mood light.

Flickering LED Remote-Controlled Candle in Real Vanilla Scented Wax

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

RCCndle.jpg
This candle captures the elegance of a real wax candle in a flameless, everlasting candlelight at the touch of a button. These are the world’s only remote-controlled battery-operated flameless candles. Using LED bulb technology, these electronic candles produce a soft flickering flame just like a real candle.

The remote can turn the candles on and off from 30 feet away and can be used on multiple candles. A kit of three candles is also available with a 6″ x 3″, a 9′ x 3″ and a 12″ x 3″.

Not a bad idea, instead of blowing ‘em out like the other LED candles we wrote about. I suppose since it’s a I/R remote - that you could also use a multifunction remote programmed to the candles….

Candles are vanilla scented - no idea how long that scent lasts , however I got a similar candle a couple weeks ago and it still has its scent. Smarthome also carries a fair assortment of other models of lighted (LED) candles and tealights.

** update - my bad - it was a late morning after a holiday - you can get these at Smarthome Singles for $39.99 and they also sell sets - offered at the same page.

Mood Light Shower Radio

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

C57193.jpg

I know there are a lot of alternatives for listening to music in the shower, for instance there are speakers you can hang in the shower and connect to your mp3 player. To me this sounds like a recipe for disaster as the steam and moisture from your oh so hot cleanup will probably kill just about any mp3 player out there.

Those speakers don’t light up either.

With this gadget you can have your music and light up the shower a bit too.

Shaped like a computer mouse, the radio features a splash-proof body, a speaker with clear and crisp sound, and an easy hanging antenna. Also great for the outdoors and poolside parties. Available in Blue, Orange, and Green. Requires 3 AA batteries, batteries not included.

So in the morning you could listen to the news or your fav dj, and for that romantic evening tune in the some ambient music from pbs or such. Its self contained so no worries about steam. It probably won’t survive a fall into the bath though, so for that you might want to see my post on the radio bath tub rubber duck.

You can buy the mood light shower radio HERE for $17.95 - limited production so get ‘em while they last.

Twin Spin Lighted Speaker System

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

The Sun Jar

Thursday, August 30th, 2007

sunjar_day_night.jpg

Captured inside the Sun Jar are a highly efficient solar cell, a rechargeable battery and low energy LED lamps. When the jar is placed in direct sunlight the solar cell creates an electrical current that charges the battery over a few hours. This energy is then used at night to power the three LED lamps inside the jar.

The light is diffused by the frosted jar and gives the appearance of sunlight.
Designed to look exactly like a mason storage jar there are no visible wires, controls, or electronics. It switches itself on and off automatically using a light sensor inside.

So it literally captures and stores “sunlight” in a jar.
