IdeaPad U8 from Lenovo

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

Look at this beautiful piece of work. Its glossy finish was not the only thing that makes this technological advance work fast. Besides from being one of the most sold laptops company’s work, its got an Intel Atom chip inside, slow? I think not. Buy an iPhone, or you could just get something better and worth it like this Lenovo.

“This is the IdeaPad U8 from Lenovo. With Intel’s Atom chip inside it, the Mobile Internet Device has an optical mouse to let you fiddle one-handed, supports 3G and EDGE, has GPS, a 4.8-inch touchscreen, a Paul Smith-esque striped back (hope that stays) and an annoying ambient bongo player (either that goes or I do.) ”

Mama, I want one. (Okay, maybe I’m a little too old to asking the parents for one, but you can’t stop me)

Walking Bike

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

So, maybe its not the best idea that has come up in the recent news, but hey, its results! Maybe its actually a shoe rack that is shaped like a bike, and at other times its the fastest bike in town when you’re racing the streets of ___________(Insert city name here)

The only sad thing about this piece of work is that that shoes, it looks like, are probably worth more than the frame and the inner makings of the bike itself. So, maybe you’re just better off buying a bunch of expensive shoes and finding a frame that some is going to throw away!

“We’re not going to oversell this one. It’s a bike. And it’s had the wheels replaced by spokes tipped with shoes. In other words, it’s quite possible the greatest invention ever.

Ad Dugdale celebrates that there’s finally a bike to give the Bitchcruiser a proper ass-kicking. We celebrate the sweet, awkward video of someone riding the thing after the jump.”

NVIDIA Motorcycle Casemod is the Fastest Computer On Two Wheels, Kinda

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Finding a good and reliable case for your computer is a hard thing to do. Not having found a case myself, I don’t know what companies to trust in and which ones are the reliable ones. I also don’t want to pay too much for the case. However, the Motorcycle casemod is definitely one that comes into my mind as reliable and FAST. NOT. But, its definitely fast :!:
“There are roadwarriors with their ultraportables and then there’s master modder Dennis Ilyin, who took computing on the go literally with this ambitious motorcycle casemod. While the two-wheeled computing wonder lacks an engine, it more than makes up for it with massive LED-lit water tanks and what’s sure to be ample processing power. The compu-bike was part of an NVIDIA-sponsored modding contest and actually came in second to this green thing. Fair? Unfair? Take a look at additional pics after the jump and you tell us.”

3G, Next-Gen iPhone?

Sunday, April 13th, 2008

“Rumors that Apple’s 3G iPhone is on the way are coming faster by the day, and now images of the alleged next generation iPhone are beginning to surface, too. Apparently the new iPhone will also sport a glossy black back, replacing the satin nickel look found on the current model.”

I wonder how much they are going to put the price on this one. 600? 700? 800? Whatever the cost, I can assure you its going to be way too much for the technology that Apple puts into the product. However, since people, and popular media, see it has fashion, Apple sales have been going up exponentially since the beginning of the century.

So, how long is the wait until we can see the Next Generation [ and don't forget overpriced] iPhone. I give it mid-summer until the product comes out, you know the prime time where kids have enough money before they spend it all on clothes and other stuff for the next school year… yes… sweet victory to apple it will come.

“Take this rumor with a grain of salt the size of your fist, but this is what some people are claiming is the back of the upcoming next-gen iPhone. It could very easily be a fake, but then again, you never know. What do you guys think? Do you like the glossy black or do you missed the two-tone design of the current model and the classy brushed metal?”

Also check out the 8GB mark on the case, and also how the text is aligned differently than the existing iPhones.

Xbox 360: Will it Microwave?

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

Hey :!: Give me that XBOX. Nah… I’m not that cheap, I’d rather see it burn in the microwave that claim it for myself. Although, too bad “Will it microwave” is not as popular as “Will it blend” because if it ways, they could totally put it up on ebay to sell, and some unknown buyer out there would be more than glad to buy it.

“It’s Sunday, and it just wouldn’t be right if a group of destructive loons were not prepared to put their faulty, plausibly repairable Xbox 360 into a microwave. Naturally, the mob breathed in the ensuing toxic fumes happily, all in the name of science comedy and cheap thrills. That kind of devotion we must salute, but for the tortured Xbox 360, our heart melts, much like its innards did. Oh, the humanity. Check out the video then hit the link for a slew of shots of the despicable carnage.”

Pioneer Sneakers Light Your Way With Built-In Headlights

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

However unnecessary this shoe comes to be , it is, nevertheless, a gadget worth discussing. I mean, think of all of those nights that you are trying to sneak out of the room without waking up your wife, you run into things that you’re children left on the ground, and think about all of the risks you have of falling and hurting yourself to get away :!:
Well, worry no more, with the headlight shoes, you can see the floor without hurting yourself, or even waking up your lovely wife in bed. [ unless she's light sensitive... ] A gadget, however, is always a gadget, I did hope that they would come in better styles of these shoes. It seems like something you would wear a century ago. Besides the style though, everything else seems to be completely intact.

Anyways, if any of you actually get these shoes, I would like to know how the deal goes. Thats the gadget today and I hope you’ve slightly enjoyed it as it wasn’t extremely worth of enjoyment. Regardless, I hope to see you next time when we see if there is a way to get free Porn accounts. No… no… just kidding

“Designers Feijun Chen & Bin Zhao clearly were reading Skymall when they dreamed up these “Pioneer” sneakers with built-in recharging headlights. They’ve got a battery inside which charges on each step, using some mysterious tech that doesn’t look piezoelectric. Apparently this can power the LEDs in the front for a full 12 hours. So you can, you know: run in the dark down dim-lit streets, or something. Maybe they’d be handy for doggy-do detection? Just a concept, for now.”

LG’s New Black Label Cellphone: First Look

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I was never a big fan of having the best phone to my surmise, but I actually have an affinity towards this one, unlike the Apple iPhone. For some reason, the looks of the gadget have to be as good as the inner workings of the gadget. This LG phone, which has both, has my attention as well as many of the fans out there. As an LG fan myself, I believe that it is a reliable company as my previous phone was LG and it worked wonderfully.

“Samsung is following up the love-it or hate-it Chocolate, and the Shine, with its third “Black Label” device: the as-yet unnamed cellphone you can see here. It looks a more serious and slender beast than the first two, and sports a five megapixel camera, tempered glass and a carbon-fiber finish. Other than that we can’t say much, as LG is being shy with the details: though I’m sure they’d call it “teaser marketing”. More data will be available at its European April 24th launch. We’ll keep you posted.”

True - I was never a big fan of the Chocolate, but the Shine definitely caught my eye and my heart wanting it for the several weeks. The first time I saw the Shine was in London, and being in a new place with a slight deprivation of sleep, it may have just been the dreamy [drowsy] way I looked at it that made it like it forever.

Do I see anymore of the Shine’s or any LG Phone out there? Did you also know that LG made tvs?

LCD Cutting Board Looks Cool, Doesn’t Make Any Sense

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

“On paper, this cutting board concept—with an embedded LCD display and wireless connectivity to display cooking recipes—is a great idea. Unfortunately, being an Iron Chef wannabe myself, it fails the basic kitchen test: the crazy-mess-where’s-the-damn-pepper-proof test. My cutting board is always full of slices and dices of whatever substances are going to suffer the torture of my pans, which would make impossible to follow any recipe on it, forcing me to follow recipes the traditional way: not following them at all. ”

“The ubiquitous kitchen cutting board has now got a new lease of life with Nardo Design’s new high-tech Digital Cutting Board. This board comes with a flexible, yes you heard right, flexible LCD display that displays cooking instructions on it so that you can conjure up that meal, perfectly. And, while doing so, you can also read up downloaded recipes that you might want to try out. All this, right at the place where all the cooking happens, your kitchen. The brainchild of design student, Marc Nardangeli, this cooking board has a very chic design that will make cooking look and even feel, very high tech. The cutting board sits on grippy rubber feet which support an acrylic board. the acrylic board contains the circuitry to run the flexible LCD panel which sits on top of it. All this is packaged neatly on on top of the other and is sealed with a safety tempered glass panel which allows finger based, touchscreen operation. You can even connect this cutting board to download the cooking recipes.”

Whatever the use for this is, I sure hope it comes handy sometime in the future…

Airplane Cabin for Sale

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

“If you are looking for a complete apartment makeover and a cheap private plane, head to eBay now because someone is selling the interior of a passenger airplane. The 19-square-foot “real Boeing aircraft model Airbus aircraft seats” includes everything but the trolley dollies: first class double seats, two fully-equipped airplane toilets, kitchenette, storage lockers, and onboard in-flight video equipment. Jump for more pics and the sellers’ psychedelic “business ideas” for this contraption.”

I’ve always wanted to have one of these, and now, I final can, however I don’t think I’ll be able to actually get one as the rooming accommodations seem rather short-lived. Anyways, the reason I’ve wanted this is because I always fancied being in an airplane (as its gotten more dangerous now, I’ve rid myself of the fancy) The only demand I have for this cabin is that it have a TV built into the back head rests of every seat.

I don’t think its got this, as its another reason not to buy, but regardless of that, I believe this is an incredible deal. If only I could get one with one of those flanged female hostesses. :)
Maybe it would go good in the basement in front of a nonexistent large screened theater that I’m going to have in the future? Maybe.

Anyways, this me calling it a day here at Gadget Dose, I hope to see you next time.

Man Makes Canoe with Seven Thousand Chopsticks

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Gizmodo says:

“Shuhei Ogawara spent two years of his life collecting 7,382 wood disposable chopsticks from his office cafeteria, glued them together in three months, and applied a polyester coat to build this 13-foot long, 66-pound canoe. This is heavier than a regular canoe, so he still doesn’t know if it’s going to float or not. What do you think?”

I don’t think it really matters if this canoe is going to float or not, its just unbelievable that this guy had the determination to finish his product. For all I care, if he just put it up in his house as an ornament, it would be completely acceptable to me.

Besides, you don’t want to risk it breaking, resulting in a waste of 2 years collecting 7382 wooden chopsticks. Now, I am a fan of chopsticks, but making a boat out of them is just ridiculous.

95% of Kids Aged 18-24 Are Pirating Music

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

“According to a University of Hertfordshire survey of 1,158 kids aged 18-24 in the UK, 95% of them have “pirated” music before. The other 5%? According or our estimates, they’re either technologically illiterate or they don’t like music. ”

Says Gizmodo. I reply, of course, they are going to be pirating music off of the internet these days. One thing you should know is that people do still actually buy the cds, its just really bad because they are able to get these cd’s from off the internet.

One thing that you can blame for the loss of revenue for the popular and poor music artists these days is the internet. In adolescent life, its our responsibility to get a job that helps us learn about the world around us, but the only reason we get that job is so that we can buy stuff, such as music.

But, now we don’t have to because we’ve the internet on our side, and its completely free! Technically, we’re not even breaking the law, which states that downloading is not illegal, but what is illegal is uploading. So, as long as you’re not uploading, you’re not breaking the law.

$300,000 Watch

Monday, April 7th, 2008

“$300,000 Watch Doesn’t Tell Time, But Shows if the Sun is Up”

According to Gizmodo

“Do you know when you see something so completely retarded, you have no response other than to rub your face with your hands and mumble to yourself, “What the fuck?” That’s exactly what we did when we saw this $300,000 Day&Night watch that doesn’t tell the time, but shows you whether the sun is up basied on Tourbillon movement. What’s even more retarded is that these watches sold out within 48 hours of their launch. I’ve sat here staring at the monitor for 10 minutes trying to figure it out, but I’m dumbfounded.”

[Reuters, Born Rich, Coolest Gadgets]

You think a watch as expensive as this would actually be able to do some cool stuff such as burn rope with its laser, or intercept phone conversations, or even be used as a radar detector/jammer for the police, but no, all it can do is tell if the sun is up or not.

“The last collection had the most hyped Titanic DNA watch that was created from the remains of historic wrecked ship ‘Titanic’. Anyways folks, I would prefer that you open your windows wide open and let Mother Nature tell you if it’s ‘Day’ or ‘Night’ and splurge that whopping amount on something else.”

As Born Rich says it, spend your 300k on something else,…

Before I leave, I’d like to let you know that we need to get this blog up and running once again. It maybe not be a new born blog, but it sure can be run as one. I’ll be your author for this blog [Perceval]. Please leave any questions or comments as all are welcomed and appreciated :!:
