Sony Ericsson today announced its latest mobile phone, the T707, with tennis star and style icon Maria Sharapova, who perfectly epitomises the phone’s sleek and elegant qualities.

The T707 truly interacts with the user – it lights up when you receive a call and you can personalise the light settings to each of your friends, so you always know who wants you.  If you are too busy to answer, simply end the call with a wave of your hand over the screen – you can also do the same gesture to snooze the alarm – your very own magic wand!

Engadget Editor-in-chief Joshua Topolsky introduces Jimmy Fallon to the Palm Pre.

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

Jimmy Fallon’s quite the tech geek, is he not? I have him on my Tweeter. He’s probably one of the most active celebrities who makes use of that social networking site. In his new talk show, he makes sure to keep tabs with the internet people (geeks and non-geeks). I think he knows how big a part technology plays in our day to day existence and he makes use of this on his show.

Here is a recent video of Jimmy talking to Engadget Editor-in-chief Joshua Topolsky on the latest Palm gadget that’s not yet even in the market — the Palm Pre:

Samsung Anycall SPH-W710

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

samsung-sph-w7100-2

This Samsung cellphone contains basic specifications, it’s actually quite an average gadget. Only, it has one very special feature which should help women in dangerous or threatening situations. The Samsung Anycall SPH-W7100 has a self-defense tool that has 100dB horn. It is linked to a local station, like your local emergency organization. When the horn sounds off, the GPS on your phone will also activate the emergency station and will tell where you are. And mind you, the 100dB horn is quite loud, almost as loud as a truck’s horn, which is good for a distance 70m long. Also, the phone flashes brightly when the alarm goes off.

This new Samsung phone will be launched next week in Korea.

No word yet on when it is coming to Western shores.

The Universal Phone Charger Plan

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009

images BBC News is reporting that mobile phone makers — Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Orange, 3, AT&T and Vodafone — are planning to come up with a universal phone charger that should help reduce cost and energy waste by some 50%. In their drive to keep products environment friendly, this new phone accessory should come to the market in the year 2012.

This looks like a great idea especially for consumers with more than one mobile such as myself and the two other people in my family. We have a basket full of charges at home and I tell you, sometimes we fight over this because wires get tangled or lost and misplaced.

Lego Cellphone For Kids

Monday, February 16th, 2009

alcatel-lego-thumb-368x252-77549

Seriously? I don’t encourage cellphones for kids just yet but I can’t say this one does not look too tempting to own. If I could have one, my inner child would be very pleased.

Lego has tapped mobile company Alcatel to deliver to consumers this brightly colored mobile phone that looks all too familiar to anyone who has enjoyed playing Lego blocks as a child. This cellphone comes with real cellular interface and components but the fun thing is you can swap the parts of it like you would any Lego set.

Slated for release this summer, this gadget will form part of other gadgets Lego plans to reproduce such as the digital camera, a walkie talkie and an MP3 player.

Choco Phone from Chanel

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

unique_cellphone

Fashion brand, Chanel, has jumped the technology bandwagon! Famous for luxury bags and clothes, it has recently unveiled this unique cell phone unit called the Choco Phone, aptly named so because the phone looks like a piece of chocolate bar, except that…it is made in an extravagant looking glass-like feature.

Designer Fred de Garilhe says, the phone works by —-

“integrating an optical fiber system that display image between two glass parts. There are 12 micro lighter fibers, that throw image components to the glass, that offer a quite good luminosity, and keep the mobile phone concept as light as possible. All lights only appear when you open the phone, by pushing removable part on the side of it.”

Expectedly, this mobile will carry a more expensive price tag than average mobile phones.

The Baby Black Berry — Is having one too early?

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

baby blackberry

Is it too soon to have your little kids send out instant messages to you on their very own Black Berry? This latest hand held device is built to do just that….or at least just copy the adult version. It resembles pretty much what mommy and daddy’s very own sets are like, with the right QWERTY keyboads and all the enhancements. The only thing different is the cutesy colors…and no it isn’t wireless capable (should we be alarmed if it was?) and it doesn’t also have a SIM Card function.

The Baby Blackberry is actually called the Text and Learn tool and toy built  for toddlers and young kids from KRESTA. It will teach pre-schoolers to identify letters, spell out simple words or their names, and focus on basic computer skills….which should be good because you know, kids start becoming technical younger and younger these days, right? It’s the way of the times. Other learning activities to this gadget include shape identification and letter matching as well as navigating on a proper QWERTY handset keyboard.

When little kids want to mimic their parents using their Black Berry, they can actually do it with their very own handheld set now thus risk losing the data from mom or dad’s phone! I wonder if this one has cutesy sounds that appeal to younger children.

The Text and Learn Kresta will hit the stands in the summer and will be priced at $25.00.

This gadget was recently unveiled at a UK Toy Fair.

Golden VF Fashion Covers For The iPhone

Monday, January 19th, 2009

vxproduct-300x225

The iPhone, as it is, is already a very expensive looking mobile gadget. But then it’s also so generic looking now, that designers are coming up with different improvements to dress it up.

VX Fashion Covers though offers something more that will make the iPhone look a million dollar’s worth. Featuring gold, diamond and crystal crusted covers, these VX Fashion Covers are so glamorous, it’s most definitely high-end….quality to the highest level. They are handmade and carefully processed and the design is inspired from chic European themes. These precious looking covers are not yet available in the market. It doesn’t even have a price range but we’re pretty sure that it will cost by the thousands. And we are well aware someone, somewhere will long to purchase one of these, for the sake of collecting it.

The Palm Pre Debut

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Debuting at the CES 2009, the international techology trade show, is Palm latest touchscreen phone. It is apparently making waves there and is putting Palm back in the playing field of handheld glory.

The Pre is a mobile phone that has a slide-out qwerty keyboard and a trackball for navigation, as well as web browsing capabilities. It can accommodate the WebKit, much like the iPhone and T-Mobile browsers.

What is unique about this new gadget is its Card System feature, one that keeps all the information you have on your phone and allows you to drag certain applications for ease of use. It also has what they call the Gesture Bar, which makes quick launches possible.

You can check this site for a more in depth review and additional photos.

Chocolate Silicon Case for the iPhone

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Fancy a chocolate iPhone case?

To me though, this one seems to take away the class and the beauty of such and expensive, state of the art gadget. But maybe as a gag gift or for someone who is an honest to goodness choco-addict, this will probably hold a lot of appeal.

This case can provide ample protection for the iPhone only, as the item is made of silicon covering.

Sold for $24.99, the chocolate silicon iPhone case may be purchase at USBFever.
