Cordozt for Electric Cords

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

scaleddotz_poster1

These are really pretty accessories for your wires, cables and cords. You know, cords usually get tangled and form a disgusting octopus at the back of your furniture. But the cordotz is such a cute solution.

Each of this clip is color coded, so that with all the wires you have at the back of your computer table, you know which cord goes with what. It also has tiny icons, like lamps, radio, cords and the like… which probably works best for those who are color blind.

There are about 10 cordotz for this, and about 24 icons which you can punch in and out. And the best thing about it? It’s priced at a very affordable $9.99!

Check out cordotz on their official site.

Eco Monitors from Eizo Nanao

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

eizo_270x151

Eizo Nanao is bringing the EcoView Sense to the market. It comes in 20 inch and 23 inch types of monitors, which are evidently eco-friendly. Using motion detectors, the monitor can instantly detect if someone is using the computer. If it finds no movement in 40 seconds, it instantly goes to sleep mode.

So say you step away for a snack or a bathroom break, the screen will turn off. The feature though may be disabled if it gets annoying.

The monitors have the following feature:

20-inch EV2023W

  • 1600 x 900 resolution
  • 178 degree viewing angles
  • 3000:1 contrast ratio

23-inch EV2303W

  • a TN panel of 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 160 degree viewing angles
  • 1000:1 contrast ratio

Brightness for both monitors is 250 cd/m2… it also is featured with a VGA and DVI-D input. The other thing that makes this eco-friendly is that it has an ambient light sensor which adjusts to what the room’s light is. The monitor is designed much thinner and lighter than regular types of monitors. And because it is such, it requires less packaging as well.

The first Tweeter Message from Space?

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

6a00d83451c3cb69e201157082abfd970b-500wi

Mike Massimino, whose twitter can be followed here, is the first guy to send his twits direct from space.

The guy is an astronaut from NASA, who went on his mission and flew to space last Monday from Cape Canaveral. He then sent a tweeter message on his account and becomes the first man to do so.

Massimino, however, isn’t actually sending twits from space, according to this article from Orlando Sentinel:

“NASA explained to me last week that Massimino wouldn’t be posting the update directly to Twitter himself, I put quotes around the words "tweet from space," since some may not consider it to be an official update from space. The way it works is that Massimino composes a Twitter message offline and when there is a connection between the shuttle and the ground, the message is transmitted via e-mail to support personnel who post it to Massimino’s Twitter account from the ground.”

20090430133300453

As we see it, there really is just too many choices for laptops in the market today. Each of these laptop is competing for a good share of the market. From the simple to the drool worthy, these portable notebooks we see now are either full featured (going for function)  or designed so lavishly (going for eye candy). Really, today’s gadgets as you will notice  pushes all the limits.

Now while many of these gadgets usually go the aesthetics factor,  I have actually never heard of one that appeals to our sense of smell.

Introducing Asus special edition laptop, the F6V, which comes in four different fragrance. Yes, this laptop is scented with names like Floral Blossom, Aqua Ocean, Musky Black and Morning Dew.

The laptop is 13.3 inch in size and has the following features:

  • Intel Core Duo Processors and runs Windows Vista Ultimate, Business, Home Premium and Home Basic
  • 4FFB of Ram and the SATA hard drive
  • a minimum 120GB, maximum at320GB
  • ATI Radeon HD4570 graphics processor
  • can support DirectX10
  • 13.3-inch LED screen with 1280 * 800 resolution
  • supports SRS Premium Sound
  • built-in stereo speakers and microphone
  • 1.3M webcam for video conferencing

Seems all the basic requirements of a good working computer fits into this. The bonus is, you have a computer that’s also a funky air freshener, right? The laptop comes in black or white.

The price has not yet been determined or announced, but what do you think? Scented laptops — yay or nay? What do you think?

What is your Google Story?

Friday, May 8th, 2009

Have you ever had a unique, successful Google experience? You may want to share this one by writing it down or posting a video. Google invites you to do it at this site.

This was inspired from one Google user who wrote the company saying —

  • google_sm "I will always remember the very first day I got Internet at home. I had not seen my father in 17 years and had no clue where he was. The very first web page I went to was Google, and I simply wrote his name in the search box, and guess what? A public announcement from the government dated four years back mentioned him as promoted! I called the person who wrote the announcement, and by luck, she worked one floor up from my father’s office. She transferred me directly to him, and we started talking. We have been in touch since then, and it’s great!"

Contribute yours here.

I haven’t had luck like this with Google but I do use the search engine to look for names and addresses of people I need to get in touch with for non life changing matters and the searches always helped.

The IV Drip Dr. Hardrive

Friday, May 8th, 2009

IV_drip_hard_drive

This is rather cute and fun. It’s a devise you use to “heal” your PC and it looks like a hospital IV drip, like literally a cure for your computers. The drip bag has a virus program and is also featured with the means to recover corrupt files. Just plug this into the computer and it will blink and flash when the devise is at work. When it does that, it does look like it’s “healing” the computer.

This concept comes from Hyuh Jin Lee.

  • This object, which has a circuit of hard drive, is truly working as a tangible virus vaccine by applying the metaphor of IV drip bag. When you plug it into your laptop, the vaccine software can be turned up in the screen and operate system. Also, the light for feedback in the IV drip bag turns on while using it.
