Netflix Market Increased in December ‘08 inspite DVD Rental Slowdown

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

In spite the recession, DVD rental and internet streaming facilities offered by Netflix rose to about 18,000 customers at the end of last year’s fourth quarter. However, this report says that when it comes to DVD use or rental, the company is seeing a trend these days. Internet streaming seems to be pushing its customers to watch DVD less and less.

Solio iPod and iPhone Solar Power Chargers

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

This solar powered device works as a charger for your iPhone and your iPod and saves on electric power. You can use this when your mobile. As long as the Solio is fully charged before you leave the house with it, it will work and take solar energy for your other devices.

I think you can even plug your Mac computers in it.

Sound Clip for The iPhone

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

soundclip_iso_print_thumb-thumb-240x121-72633 So, I don’t really own an iPhone. I wasn’t one of those that bought into the hype. I think the decision not to get one was right for me since, I’ve had a few friends complaining  about its performance or have given up on the unit altogether. One of the complaints they have? The sound box isn’t so desirable. If you’re one of those iPhone owners with this complaint, you have to thank SoundClip for the solution.

The SoundClip is meant to boost the speaker volume of this mobile unit to a more desirable level, particularly increasing this by 10 decibels and between 6kH and 20kHz. With it, the sound comes of crisper and clearer, thanks to its tuned conical deflection chamber.

Maximize your iPhone’s sound with this for only $7.95 USD here.

TuneLight MP3 Speaker System

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Frankly, I’m not too thrilled about iPod docks that sit there on my table, in this massive shape or form and does nothing else for me but play music. Most docks I find are a waste of space, when I know that there could be more use for it. I think Gracious Home has heard my grumbling because I love their MP3 Speaker system. It is so efficient.

ipodlampsp-300x225

And by efficient, I mean, the dock is a multitasker that doubles as desk organizer tray to put pens, paperclips and other stuff in. It is also a desk lamp. Isn’t this amazing?

Features:

*Compatible with any iPod or MP3 player
*Connects to the headphone jack
*Energy-efficient 20W Halogen bulb included
*2 pencil/pen holders and 2
organizer trays

This iPod dock costs an affordable $19.99.

Swarovski-studded Vacuum Cleaner

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

swarovski-studded-ergorapido_kmmve_52_jqwpm_1822

Alright, maybe this isn’t for the average household… but you have to commend the ingenuity to it. Electrolux has collaborated with Lukasz Mistletoe, a famed celebrity designer, for this one. They call it the ErgoRapido vacuum cleaner and this version is  in Limited Edition Black and White, with 3730 Swarovski crystal studs.

You would think this one is on the heavy side, but the vacuum cleaner is actually lightweight and can perform quite well. The attractive design doesn’t inhibit any of its functionality…which also means, the design has actually no use except for aesthetics. The vacuum cleaner is the cordless type.

If there was a beauty contest for vacuum cleaners, this one should win. And well, it actually did garner two — Red Dot Design Award 2008 and IF Design Award 2008.

USB Powered LunchBox

USB-powered-lunch-box

Nothing picks up one’s appetite more than a set meal prepared deliciously warm. I love warm meals, it makes eating more palatable. But with packed lunches, warm meals aren’t entirely possible. Except if you own the USB powered lunchbox container.

This product comes from Japan (where else?) and it can keep food warm or toast grilled sandwiches for example, at 140 °F or 60 °C. The container has insulators that heat up when plugged into the USB. So…if there are no microwaves around and all you have is your computer with the USB port, then you can have hot meals anytime, anywhere you want with this container. Even your kids at school can enjoy their warm packed lunches.

It is pretty neat huh?

Keyboard for the iPhone and iPod

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

apple-keyboard-concept_rfpO1_58

Did you ever the iPhone and the iPod also comes with their own keyboard? Some users are still not comfortable with the touchscreen technology and are looking for that all familiar keys. Here’s a concept that may just work for them.

The Apple Keyboard is inspired by the Eee Keyboard PC, which doubles as a hometheater. The Apple Keyboard isn’t only just for typing, it could also serve as an iPhone and iPod dock, making it easier for one to connect to the computer.

This gadget isn’t out in the market yet, but can you imagine this selling pretty well amongst iPhone and iPod users? Apple have released a similar accessory in the past, with the Numberkey, a wireless numberpad meant for Mac and is connected using Wi-Fi.

Troll Touch For Mac

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

slipcover touch screen

Troll Touch, one of the industry’s touch screen manufacturer has recently announced the released of this new slipcover mean for Apple’s LED display. Made of clear plastic, the cover is hardly noticeable when placed on the screen. But it does offer wonderful ways to alter how the computer now functions. The thin plastic is good for Apple’s 24-inch Mac computers. Called the Cinema Display, it comes with an integration kit to configure to your system, via USB. But those with iMac and MacBook will also enjoy the same, as touch screen kits are also underway.

Only, there is a catch because the slipcover doesn’t come cheap. A standard one costs about $1099 and if you wanna get a fully integrated display, it would cost you about $2199. Worth getting or is it a waste of money?
